My friends and my family are my sun, my moon, and my stars. My whole world is built around them and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Living in the suburbs of Maryland, everything that I was surrounded by was a very sad variation of brown and grey. I found a sense vibrancy and life I always felt I was missing through my chosen family that I surrounded myself with.
I scrapbook to find a way to eternalize moments, and the moments that are most important to me are the ones that include my friends and family. I wanted this to be a love letter to those people and those moments that have been integral in making me the young creative black woman I am today, as well as a testament to my undying love for my two families that gave me space to grow and have loved me unconditionally. I think art is very expressive and we’re in a weird moment right now politically and culturally and I want to be able to look back at this year and time, and feel something other than the anger so many of us feel. ♦
