Between a Change and A Home Place

Caught in a cul-de-sac for seventeen years
And now it’s time to leave
And the clouds rumble and bully the sun
And stardust freckles the sidewalks
Home, I wish I was here forever
The thought of my four blue walls soaks my stomach in butterflies
But I’m trapped
on this conveyor belt that sputters and glitches
Because the air is misty
And the streetlights go on as I drive away
And the sparks hit my eyes as I turn down new streets
And the butterflies stay
