Spring break is always bittersweet. The reprieve from school is a godsend, but its proximity to summer is cruel. We are given a taste of what not having to wake up early and stress about homework is like before we are forced to go back to it for two more months. It’s harder when you throw senior-itis into the mix.

Although I’m not eager to get back to class I’ve had a really nice break. On Saturday, I went to an event at a small art space in Los Angeles. It was crowded and the people were nice. I felt welcomed and actually enjoyed it. I didn’t get to bed until around 3 AM and had to wake up three hours later to go to Knott’s Berry Farm. I love the feeling you get in your stomach when a roller coaster dips or turns you upside down. I had as much fun as a person running on three hours of sleep could have, which was surprisingly more than I thought.

On Monday, I alternated between sleeping and watching 13 Reasons Why. I don’t think a show has ever made my cry so much in my life.

Thursday was the longest and best day of the week. My friend Nat drove us down to Palm Springs. We saw a lot of art. The ride was performance art in itself.

My main goal for the break was to allow myself be comfortable while away from the constant eyes of my classmates. I felt a lot of emotions over the break but comfort was the least of them. It was still a good break. ♦
