As summer slowly approaches, this time of year is full of events to celebrate. Graduation, prom, college acceptances—the list goes on. The road to any of those milestones may be littered with highs and lows. Lucille Clifton’s poem “Won’t You Celebrate With Me” articulates the joy of making it to the end:

won’t you celebrate with me
what i have shaped into
a kind of life?

For this week’s Creative Prompt, write a poem or short story, or create a work of visual art, that sums up something you’d like to celebrate in your life. Maybe you got your driver’s license or narrowly passed your science class? Whether they’re small wins or big ones, they’re a reason to pat yourself on the back. Send your celebratory writing or art—plus your first name, last initial, age, and location—to [email protected] with the subject line “Creative Prompt” by Monday, May 1 at 6 PM ET.
