We went to Udaipur in July, with our friends Anukriti and Diva. It is a small city in the desert state of Rajasthan, but it is full of cooling lakes. We spent three days walking through the narrow lanes of the old city, exploring beautiful palaces and havelis, and rummaging through antique shops filled with old photographs and vintage toys.
Thank you to Ayesha and Udayan for making this trip possible.

Udaipur, through one of the stained glass windows at the City Palace.
Vartika peeking through a window in a veranda full of Chinese-style murals.
The Blue Room in the City Palace.
Diva took this picture of us like The Shining’s Grady twins, only chilling by the pool.
Udaipur homes and havelis have the best ceiling decorations.
This friendly elephant came to our car to greet us.
Saheliyon-ki-Bari, or the Courtyard of the Maidens, is a lush garden full of beautiful fountains.

Our flight was delayed. Sadly, vacations come to an end.
