Now that I’m 17, summer camp is something I haven’t participated in since I was much younger. But even so, looking back on camp memories gets me all nostalgic. This little DIY felt banner is an ode to summer camps of yore—but it can also be customized to proclaim your feelings about practically anything.
What you’ll need:
- String or twine of any kind
- A ruler
- One piece of six-by-three-inch felt
- A straight pin
- A needle and thread
- Sharpies, glitter, stickers, and other decorative stuff
How to do it:
Measure out about a foot of string, then cut it.
Fold the top of the felt about three quarters of an inch over the piece of string, then pin it into place.
Double thread your needle. Starting from the back of the banner, sew a line to enclose the string inside the felt. Knot the thread at the end, then cut the thread.
This is what it should look like from the front!
Next, from the bottom edge of the felt, make a three-quarter-inch slit in the center.
Then, make two diagonal cuts up from the slit, so you can get that banner look!
Have fun and decorate your finished banner any way you want! Tie the string together and hang that banner with pride. ♦
