Gummy Candy

The way gum gets stuck on shoes,
Is the way I liked candy stuck to my teeth.

The gummy kinds took the cake,
They continue to take the cake and eat it, too.

Worms, bears, fish, octopus,
only charming when fashioned from gelatin,
multicolored, artificial flavors of fantastic,
packaged variety and delight.

They are cavity parasites to be missed,
Stuck in my upper tooth,
Drawing the tongue near.

Remembering the orange, the apple,
No, maybe it was pineapple?
One can’t be sure if it doesn’t contain real fruit juice.

I liked them all the same,
Tongue up,
To taste is to remember.
