Daisy Back Patch

What you’ll need:

  • Felt
  • Fabric in a contrasting color
  • A needle and thread OR a sewing machine
  • Tacky Glue
  • Printer paper
  • Pencil
  • Sharp scissors

How to do it:

Step One

On your printer paper, draw a few long oval shapes (petals!) lengthwise across the paper and choose your favorite. Cut it out. This will be your stencil!

Step Two

Trace the petal stencil onto your felt seven times (or, once for each petal you want to have), then cut ’em all out and set them to the side.

Step Three

Cut out a medium-sized circle from your contrasting fabric. This will be the middle of your flower.

Step Four

Arrange your flower petals, y’know…like a flower, and then place the circle in the middle. Holding the flower from the middle, flip it over.

Step Five

Cut out another circle, this time out of felt (it doesn’t matter what color you use, as it’ll be on the back). Put a thin ring of Tacky Glue around the edges, and press it onto the center of the flower. This will secure everything together and make it much easier for you to sew in place.

Optional Step:

If you want to double up on petals like I did (I’m talking about the gold fabric peeking out from under the blue petals!), cut out seven more slightly larger petals out of a contrasting fabric, and glue or sew them to the back of your smaller petals.

Place the whole flower onto the back of your jacket, tack it in place with some Tacky Glue, and then sew it straight to the jacket.
