Once you have all the supplies you need for this fluttery heart necklace (and chances are, you’ve got ’em all in your house), you could make it in less time than it takes to watch one 22-minute episode of TV. You could even put it together while you watched a 22-minute episode of TV. Sweeeeet!
What you’ll need:
- Two colors of felt
- Scissors
- Two colors of thread
- A needle
- A cute little bead, like the star-shaped one pictured below
- A necklace chain
- Glitter (optional)
How to do it:
Step One
Cut out a heart from one of your pieces of felt. It should be about an inch and a half tall, and an inch and a half and wide.
Step Two
Cut out another, slightly bigger heart from the other color of felt.
Step Three
Cut the bigger heart in half.
Step Four
Cut small triangles out of the flat side of each heart-half. You’ll end up with two tiny wings:
Step Five
With the thread color of your choice, thread your needle like this. Tie a knot at the longest end.
Step Six
Sew a wing to each side of the heart using straight stitches.
Step Seven
Sew the bead to the front of the heart. (The front is on the opposite side of the wings.)
Step Eight
Cut a square of felt in the same color as the heart. You’re going to use this to create a hole for the necklace chain to go through.
Step Nine
Place your necklace chain on the back of the heart, then lay the felt square over it. Sew the top and bottom sides of the square to the heart using straight stitches.
Step Ten (Optional)
Using a second color of thread, sew little stitches around the star as decoration.
Step Eleven (Optional)
Add some glitter to the wings, and you’re done. Fly, little necklace! Fly! ♦
