Dangling Daydreams

flat coke and dangling daydreams
iridescent tear drops
falling from their eyes
“why are you by yourself?”

fences line the perimeter
holding me inside
tall grass scratching my legs
and the breeze sliding across my skirt

i wanna lay down
i wanna lie
i wanna
i

am so entangled in the thought
of breathing new air
and calls from my mother
when my dad gets home

somewhere i am not
but wish to be.
what could have been
has not been done.
