my alternate self is worldly.
she has traveled and learned—
swam in every ocean,
kissed the moon (and the stars),
spent summer nights
hanging off of railings,
laughing until she could no longer breathe.

she is fragile, filled with light,
she is dizzying rain and melting constellations,
dangling in between space and time.
she knows no home.

her dreams unravel the future.
closed eyes, morning secrets,
she has seen too much death
in her bed at night.

immortal is too strong a word.
she is celestial,
ever-present.

she has met so many,
kept so few.
she has loved so many things
and she has lost them all.
