Earth After Rain

He smelled like earth after rain
A scent as sweet as the sky
She hoped the droplets would never drain
As she inhaled and fluttered her eyes

The sunshine reflected down on them
Making his hazel eyes glow
And she thought him a precious gem
He, however, did not know

It was only months later when he saw
His look of admiration had been reflected
In the way she looked at him in awe
It was so much more than either expected
