Alyson’s Yogurt ’n’ Honey Facial Mask

I feel the most accomplished when I am able to use a bunch of random materials to make something completely new and useful. In this case, I’m going to take refrigerator scraps to create a facial mask that will make you feel as fresh as a new year!

What you’ll need:

1

  • One-third of a cup of yogurt
  • A packet of oatmeal
  • A spoon
  • A mixing bowl
  • 2 teaspoons of honey
  • Cinnamon
  • Optional: A mask brush

How to do it:

Step One

2

Put the yogurt and oats into a mixing bowl and stir together.

Step Two

3

Add two teaspoons of honey and stir.

Step Three

4

Grab your cinnamon bottle, pat it five times (or more if you are feeling it) over the bowl, and then—yep!—stir.

Step Four

5

Give the mixture another good stir, so that all of the ingredients are distributed evenly. Use your fingers or a mask brush to paint the mask across your face, with an emphasis on your T-zone. The thicker you slather on this mask, the better!

Leave the mask on for 15 to 20 minutes, or until it hardens. The mask can be washed off with warm water, but my favorite removal method is to peel it off. That not only eliminates some mess, but also unleashes my inner peeling beast, who waits anxiously to rip off face-coats such as this. If you have any leftover mask, you can put it back where it began: the fridge! —Alyson
