A Cities Prowl
Looking through the lavender incense, I knew something had begun
through its chaotic swirls a new sensation grew and spun.
Sitting in my bedroom I heard my tabby cat roar,
telling me to learn how to hiss a little more.
A Reflection in my window whispered what the walls foretold,
surrounding me with fear of what the dawn would hold.
Over the mountain the mist came rolling, right to my door,
beckoning me to follow it to the empty shore.
Across a bridge I ran to a city full of life,
through cigarette smoke and the fluttering eyelashes of the night.
But alas the buildings told me to run right back home,
I was much too young they said to be there all alone.
