We sat on the sofa and lazily watched TV, the day was hot so we kept complaining. We briefly took a nap next to each other, sleeping through the alarm to wake us. We played a few games and laughed merrily.

I read, and switched on my fairy lights, cubes of colour surrounding me. After reading for a while my parents arrived home. Fig, my cat, sat next to me on my bed, curling up into a ball of fluff and settling down to sleep, purring loudly in the process.

Nothing special happened today. No big revelation or announcement, no declaration of love or dramatic adventure. Just the right amount of laughter and the right amount of smiles. It was quiet and peaceful and lovely. Today was simple, and for today, that is enough. ♦
