Hannah V. Sawyerr is a twenty-year-old national youth poet. Along with being a National Medalist in the NAACP Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics in the category of poetry, her work has been featured in several magazines such as Teen Ink , Sesi, and Tribes.
Hannah has interned for FORCE, an art activist effort to upset rape culture and promote a counter-culture of consent. She is also currently the 2016 Baltimore City Youth Poet Laureate. In this capacity, she will be representing Baltimore City on both a local and national level. Her first book titled “For Girls Growing Into Their Hips” is scheduled for publication by Penmanship Press in February of 2017.
