Last Thursday, Roy Mabie, the Neighbourhood, and Kevin Abstract all performed at the All-American Drive-In Prom. It was probably the best night of my life.

Due to the rain, a giant group of the most attractive people I’ve ever seen stood in the parking garage leading to the venue. There was a feeling of importance in the air. I was excited to be there. When we were finally allowed inside, my friends and I enjoyed about an hour of meeting people and dancing before Roy Mabie performed a new song. Right after him, the Neighbourhood played five songs and two important things happened.

1) Jesse, the lead singer, held my hand.
2) The security guard gave me the band’s set list.

I think the most visually AND audibly pleasing part of the night was Kevin’s set. He walked on stage with two guys around his age, one was shirtless and waved the American flag during every song and the other was fully dressed and sat criss-cross in the front of the stage the entire time looking sad. It was unlike any concert I’ve ever been to; it felt so personal. I really appreciate that about small venues because you’re so close to the artists. Kevin is bringing something entirely new to the music scene and I love it.

The Prom was everything I’d ever dreamed of and I’m so happy I was able to be part of it. ♦
