On Thinking Too Much

quite too often than not, i fall in love
with my thoughts
wrap my deepest feelings across their
weary backs,
offer them shelter in the recesses of my mind.
my thoughts are lonely and cold.
the more of my feelings they can wrap
themselves in, the longer they live.

i start to forget sometimes that my
mind is the guest room in my body
and that my thoughts are only strangers
i’ve welcomed into my home.
