November always makes me think of food because of its proximity to the winter holidays and American Thanksgiving. There are soooooo many fall foods that I love: butternut squash, brussels sprouts (when they’re roasted and covered in garlic they are sooooo good), pumpkin pie, pumpkin seeds, pumpkin coffee…basically everything pumpkin. Oh, and chocolate, because chocolate is always good.

Food can be wonderful to write about because there is so much to capture—smells, tastes, sights, texture. And it’s so appetizing to look at, too. This week, I would like you to show appreciation to your favorite food or meal—fall or otherwise! You can do this by writing a poem, painting a still life, drafting a goofy (or serious) restaurant review, or creating a scene with characters eating or cooking.
