This summer I went to Mojacar. It’s a little seaside town in the south of Spain. I took 35mm film photos of my surroundings and my friend Emma. I unknowingly brought black and white film, which annoyed me initially as I picked a lot of my compositions due to the vibrancy of the colors. However, now I see that the black and white tones cause Emma, the subject in many of the photos, to glow even brighter. Her dark skin is bold and beautiful, her smile and her eyes create an incredibly inviting contrast.
Thank you to Emma for modeling.Rachel Oyawale is a 16-year-old photographer and singer/songwriter based in Southeast London.
