While taking these photos, we tried to highlight the wonder of finding someone you can have adventures with, share heartfelt sentiments with, and laugh with. Someone who feels tailored to you, who you can trust with the most vulnerable pieces of yourself—a soulmate.
We met at the beginning of sophomore year, when fate placed us in the same art class, and Sophie was still shy from moving to a new school. In two years, though, we’ve gone from cautious small talk to rapid-fire texting at 3 AM, with borderline ESP to boot. Buried in all those conversations, you can find us sharing pieces of art and writing we would never show anyone else. Although the surroundings of these photos were far from idyllic, the magic of us being together was enough to make us believe that we were roaming a grassy pasture with not a care in the world. When you’re with your soulmate, it doesn’t matter where you are—no matter how ordinary the setting, everything feels truly extraordinary. —Alanis and Sophie
