Ever get the feeling that your plain ol’ sneakers are missing a little something? Try jazzing ’em up with these charm-ing shoe accessories!
What you’ll need:
- Shrink film (NOTE: This tutorial works for any kind of shrink film, but to get the shiny plastic finish shown in the photo, use sanded shrink film. You could also use some sand paper to rough up some clear shrink film.)
- An oven
- Colored pencils or markers
- Clear glue
- Glitter
- Superglue
- Pin backs
- Scissors
- A ruler
- Optional: Mod Podge
How to do it:
Step One
Draw the outline of the shapes you want on the shrink film. It would be best to keep the designs around an inch or two. If you can’t think of any shapes, just google stencils, print them out, and trace over them.
Step Two
Cut your shapes out.
Step Three
Color your shapes in using colored pencils or permanent markers.
Step Four
Following the instructions of your shrink film, bake the shrink film cutouts until they completely flatten.
Step Five
Once you complete Steps One to Four, turn the shapes over and apply superglue in the areas where you want the pin backs to be placed. Carefully press the pin backs down onto the shapes. Leave them to dry overnight. (NOTE: For those using clear or sanded shrink film, apply glue to the rough side of the shape.)
OPTIONAL: Adding Glitter to Pins
Apply regular glue to the smooth side of the shape.
Pour glitter onto the glue.
Apply more glue on top of the glitter layer and spread the glitter out using your finger or a popsicle stick. Spread until the glitter coats the entire surface. Wait one to two hours for it to dry. Once the glitter layer is dry, you can opt to coat it with a layer of Mod Podge.
Now pin these beauties to your shoelaces! Put on your shoes and show off your new charm(s)! ♦
