On Monday, North Miami police shot an unarmed black behavior therapist named Charles Kinsey, who identified himself as unarmed and a therapist while he lay on the ground with his hands in the air. Kinsey was trying to help his autistic patient back to the facility from which he had wandered. On Thursday, Miami Police made a statement that the officer had actually been taking aim at the autistic patient, who was unarmed and sitting on the ground playing with a toy truck, and had missed. The Guardian reports: “Kinsey can be heard on video telling police that the only thing the patient has in his hands is the toy. ‘A toy truck,’ Kinsey tells the officers. ‘I am a behavior therapist at the group home. That’s all it is.'”
