My art is a collision of the people in my life and the ways that they’ve impacted me. I’ve always felt most comfortable with a pen in my hand, but after a while, one medium started to feel restrictive—like I couldn’t express the full narratives of my subjects. So, I embraced mixed-media. Using a meticulous mishmash of patterns, pen-hatches, conversations, and wayward thoughts, I strive to create portraits beyond face value, and delve into the realms of storytelling. —Aliza
