Thunderstorm
Rain pelting down over the metal roof
White lightning over rolling hills
A burnt down tree,
Tonight’s first kill.
Purple skies torn in half
Can you hear her thundering wrath?
The intensity I feel within
summed up in her blinding flash.
From the passenger seat I see it all
I take in this unexpected storm.
I watch her emotion incarnate,
Nature’s greatest art form.
In the horizon, night’s dark blue
Bleeds onto the sky and onto us too.
The heavens roar
And I think of you.
