A Man Taking Photographs of His Lover in the Morning.

Feasting
A frost-bitten window illuminates from behind;
eyelashes lined with sleep
and a half-eaten peach in one hand
Leg slung across gingham tablecloth,
coffee steaming in blue ceramic.
The shutter clicks.

Washing
Through the shower screen
a tan shoulder,
the curve of her thigh.
A flash of flesh visible
through wet haze.
The shutter clicks.

Dressing
Sunlight seeps through pink chiffon
suspended overhead.
She stands like this,
shoulder blades bared in a field of scattered shoes,
beige sweater dripping off the shelves.
The shutter clicks

Leaving
A smile in the doorway,
hand held up to shield the lens.
Visible between fingertips,
a section of forehead –
three little wrinkles above a brow bone.
White paint peels from the doorframe.
The shutter clicks.
