The Chicago Teachers Union started off a strike last week with a rally. The teachers are striking for multiple reasons, including a lack of funding and care for children on the district’s part. You can read more about their grievances here.
President Obama pardoned 61 people who had been imprisoned for federal drug offenses last Wednesday, as part of his attempt to make amends with those who were negatively affected by the war on drugs. Sixty-one prisoners is not very many, in my opinion, but this may be a step in the right direction for prison reform.
