One of my guilty pleasures is spending a lazy Saturday afternoon watching several episodes of House Hunters in a row. I’m fascinated by what people deem important—like when they demand granite countertops, for example, or turn their noses up at wall-to-wall carpeting—and I’m always curious as to how they’ll transform their potential houses into eventual homes.

This week, we’d like you to design a dream house of your own and take us on a guided tour, using words or visuals (or both!). What is the MOST important part of the house? Does the house have any history? Is it haunted? Are there any secret passageways? What is the MOST important part of the house? What does it smell like? How are the walls decorated? There are no restrictions—fill it with everything you’ve ever wanted!

There are many ways to attack this, creatively speaking: You could write a poem about the sounds you hear, draw the MOST important room, write a story about the people who live there, or create a diorama. Use whatever tools your imagination gives you to build with. Please send your dream house, along with your first name, last initial, age, and city/state/country, to [email protected] with the subject line “Creative Prompt” by Monday, May 2 at 6 PM EST. We want to take a tour!

Your last Creative Prompt was to put yourself in the shoes of a world-famous pop or rock star. This is what you imagined your lives would look like at the top…
