Fan fiction is a super fun way to explore an existing fictional universe while creating your own personal stories. For this week’s exercise, I (Pixie) would like you to imagine that you’re going on a date (romantic or platonic, either way!) with a character from one of your favorite books. Do you go to their world, or do they come to yours? What do you wear? Where do you take them? What do you talk about? Are they afraid of anything in your world or vice versa?

If you like, you can also write this from the character’s point of view, perhaps in the form of a diary entry or a letter to a friend. Or maybe you’d like to draw a picture of the two of you spending the day together. The object is to maintain the integrity of the character while bringing your own voice to the story. How do they react to things? Are they as interesting as you hoped they’d be? What are your worries or fears in terms of spending the day with them? Be open and honest and, most importantly, have fun! Send us a glimpse into your fandom, along with your first name, last initial, age, and city/state/country to [email protected] with the subject line “Creative Prompt” by Monday, March 28 at 6 PM EST. We look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Last week, we asked you to go outside and get inspired by the springtime. Here’s what you came up with when you embraced the season…
