This past Sunday (Valentine’s Day!), I went to a Carly Rae Jepsen concert in Atlanta, Georgia. Before the show, I had the opportunity to hang out with some of her fans—all of whom were amazing and super sweet! I didn’t really know what to expect going into the concert. I had never seen Carly Rae before and had only become a fan a couple months ago, after hearing Emotion. But when I first caught a glimpse of her sparkly, ’80s-inspired stage-setup, I knew the evening was going to be an absolute blast. The whole show felt, as one fan put it, “like a sugar rush.” I think that is the most apt description of Carly Rae and her tunes!
I was immediately drawn to this pair because of their matching T-shirts and absolutely ADORABLE candy-heart headbands, which they adorned with the names of their fave Carly Rae songs. Regina (right) said, “My best friend and I came to see Carly tonight, and we decided for Valentine’s Day to make these sweet little candy hearts for her!”For this group of pals, music isn’t the only thing to love about Carly Rae: Tyler (far left) said, “I didn’t really get into her until after I saw that she backed out of playing for the Boy Scouts of America [in 2013] because they didn’t let LGBT members in. When I heard about it, I thought, Go Carly! When someone does something like that, it helps me get into them more as a musician, too.”
