Aries

aries1 Louise’s tarotscope: For Aries, as a fire element, you’re often not the first person to ask others for help. Perhaps you’re a bit more easily anxious lately, or you were quite busy and overwhelmed at the end of 2015. Coming into January, what I’m seeing is a strong energy of knowing that you don’t have to prove yourself to anyone, a sense of stepping back into yourself and recognizing that you don’t have to fight to be heard or to be you. Your job is just to BE YOU, but sometimes it’s like, What does that even mean? We’re always told to be authentic, to be ourselves. I like to call it a sense of being embodied—allowing yourself to be where you are. It means waking up in the morning and going, “It’s OK to feel however I feel today.” Meet yourself where you’re at.

I pulled the Seven of Wands for Aries this month, which often comes up if we’re feeling overwhelmed by others people’s opinions, or by ideas of who we should be for other people. (School is just so many opinions from the people you see every day.) If you usually step into January with a regimented list of a million things to get done, this year, focus on one thing you’re really excited about. This energy really supports feeling like a weirdo. All of us feel weird at some point, but we don’t realize everyone else feels weird, too. I like to think that weirdness is a responsibility. If you’re feeling weird, your job is to be you in your weirdness, which enables other people to be themselves in their own weirdness! However weird or out of it you feel, you are never alone, especially at those points when you feel most alone. We’re all influencing each other, and it’s safe to be you. Asking for help is OK, and it’s OK to tell your friends or family members that you’re feeling weird about something: You don’t have to fit in this year! Meeting yourself where you’re at and practicing being really in your body will support you in any life-changes this year.

Dylan’s advice: Who is your unconditional fan in this world? Is it an old friend, an understanding sibling, or perhaps an acquaintance you bonded with a little bit more at that holiday party, who also might just be your new best friend if you put in some effort? In your very Aries quest to become your own most individual you, identify a parallel soul whom you can ask for help or space when you’re feeling run down, and openness and enthusiasm when you’re feeling way up. Who can you text, without reserve, your most off-the-wall thoughts, have the weirdest conversations without any side-eye, and admit your stresses to without fear of judgement? Through navigating your own acceptance and celebration of your weirdness, you perfect weirdo, as well as the overwhelming nature of this very human existence, this person is your trustworthy accomplice, and certainly blood oath worthy! OK, I can’t advise you to go full-on blood oath here, because that is awfully dangerous and is ***not condoned***. A safer and still symbolically powerful spit-shake will make it real. Or, bury something together in the ground, such as a friendship bracelet, or the crust of a pizza you just split between you. Make it a ritual. Put a ring on it, and boost this cosmic alliance as you start the new year.
