Of all montages—cleaning montages, shopping-spree montages, training-for-the-big-game/fight/performance montages—makeover montages are my favorite. Even though the moral of most movies and TV shows involving these rapid beauty transformations almost always ends up being “it’s the beauty that’s inside that counts” (true), I can’t help but feel thrilled when I see a character go from zero to 100 with what seems like two swipes of eyeshadow and, like, a haircut. The best beauty advice is that most beauty advice is nonsense, but that doesn’t stop me from taking these pointers from some of my favorite fictional characters to heart. And because Hattie illustrated them, they’re even prettier! —Gabby

“Don’t wear powder; it spoils the complexion. Don’t wear corsets; they spoil the figure.” —Gigi, Gigi

“Popularity is fleeting. Trends change. It’s all about details. Pay attention to details. Look at my nails. In junior high, I wore only pink. Now it makes me puke. So I change. —Marcie, Jawbreaker

Oh my god Fran Fine is my spirit animal! I wish they still played the Nanny on Nick @ Nite. The illustrations remind me of the Glossier stickers! :)
+1000 points for the title pun.
