Last year, I took photos non-stop, carrying a little film camera everywhere I went. This is a visual diary of things that I will probably forget now that the new year is here.
I always people-watch when I’m going up escalators for some reason.
An angsty collage from the end of the last school year.
My dad tried to order at an empty drive-through last summer.
Inside the Wendy’s, after they told us not to order at the drive-through.
Math class, when we were supposed to be solving quadratic equations.
Valentine’s Day, 2014.
Waiting for the train.
The show before the show started.
My friend Piao, before we went to the closing ceremony of our Model UN assembly. She jumped into the frame at the last minute and thinks she ruined the photo, but I think it’s better like this.
Alice Liu is a 16-year-old artist, photographer, and student from Toronto. She is big on Arcade Fire, neon signs, purple lipstick, and Arrested Development. Find her on Tumblr and Cargo.
Very cool! I especially liked the escalator one. I always wonder about people who run up escalators. Like, is there an emergency, or do you just hate wasting time? I recently got a disposable camera and colored the lens blue, the flash red. I’m excited to see how the photos turn out!

I love this! Especially that collage saying “sounds like fun to me”, perfectly describing a lot of the stuff surrounding school friends and acquaintances. There are so many little things that happened last year that I’ve probably already forgotten, so it’s cool that you’ve kept a photo diary, especially since it involves your dad trying to order from a closed drive thru :’). I definitely people watch on escalators too ;)

Yeah, the last photo is very special with Piao jumping in it, it really captured the moment.
