Life is extremely tough for everyone; I think it would behoove us all to take time to notice and appreciate the simple things that make us happy. With this in mind, I made a list a few years ago of the things that make me happy. It’s constantly changing as I cross certain things out and add new ones. I recommend making a list like this, because even if you don’t think it will be helpful, it’s a nice thing to have when you’re down or just having one of those days. It gives you proof that life isn’t entirely dark and dismal, and that you are capable of happiness, because the list only exists because of you. Here’s mine:

  1. The fact that you are currently reading this.
  2. My friends and family.
  3. Falling asleep to the sound of rain.
  4. Laughing.
  5. Making other people laugh.
  6. Giving advice.
  7. Being appreciated.
  8. Reading.
  9. Poetry.
  10. Discovering new things.
  11. Creating and editing videos.
  12. Photography.
  13. Hugs.
  14. Walking outside at night.
  15. Stargazing.
  16. The smell of freshly mown grass.
  17. Cake and ice cream.
  18. People falling in love.
  19. Old sweet shops.
  20. Picnics.
  21. Painting.
  22. Musicals.
  23. Sitcoms.
  24. Superman.
  25. When everything is straight or at right angles.
  26. Weddings.
  27. Birthdays.
  28. Babies.
  29. Snow.
  30. Food.
  31. More food.
  32. Inside jokes.
  33. Holidays.
  34. IKEA trips with my dad.
  35. Putting on makeup.
  36. My cats.
  37. Curly or straight hair.
  38. Sleepovers.
  39. You.

I know that’s a long list, but I actually edited the real one down considerably. This isn’t even half of it. ♦
