Dear Diary

May 22, 2014

Change happens so fast.

It’s unbelievable how quickly my life has changed; it feels as if everything has turned upside down in a matter of seconds, like the Big Bang, or even the Big Crunch that I read about when I was younger. It feels like an explosion of things I don’t want.

I don’t think school will ever end. I don’t know if bad things will take a vacation from my life anytime soon. I don’t want to elaborate, for reasons, but it is frustrating. I am not full of sorrow or angry, just not at ease. ♦

Was so fascinating to hear about Marah’s family and the impact of the conflict on them. The stories of individual families or children within syria are definitely not something given much media coverage, it’s incredibly interesting to hear about and makes me feel the impact of whats going on at a more human level.

given the departures of Naomi and Katherine, I was wondering if there will be a new ‘diarist’ soon?

The writing here is so beautiful, but I always distinctly look forward to Caitlin’s entries… They capture things in a way that writing simply can’t, and that’s such an amazing skill.

I can’t believe that what’s happening in Syria is real, it’s too much. There are children who are losing their families and opportunities—it is good to have some kind of coverage apart from the media.
And Britney…I know how it feels like when bad things keep coming your way. I’m so sorry you have to go through it.
