There have been so many discussions of Love Actually recently. Interestingly, most of the ones I have been reading have been negative. This one was pretty interesting:
Caitlin, your illustrations are so much cuter than the actual movie. You should make films!
K8 is Gr8December 12th, 20137:40 PM
Aww this is so cute. Now I actually want to see it!
::Does anyone have any movie/book suggestions? I have a 2 week winter break, and I’m going to need SOMETHING to occupy myself with!::
Jane-EyreDecember 13th, 20135:35 AM
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is ah-mazing. And Jane Eyre, of coooourse ;)
K8 is Gr8December 14th, 201310:09 AM
I read The Book Thief, and I’m a little bit obsessed with it :) I realllly want to see the movie….
aylaluvsBMDecember 20th, 201312:42 AM
the movie is AMAZING
dallasrookiesDecember 13th, 20137:36 PM
If you haven’t read them already, Jonathan Safran Foer’s novels are really good. He has both Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, and Everything is Illuminated. Personally, I prefer Extremely Loud and Incredibly close, but both are excellent.
K8 is Gr8December 14th, 201310:21 AM
Thank you!!!
AngstyTheBraveDecember 14th, 20134:32 PM
The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson is very, very good and smart but also very dark.
K8 is Gr8December 14th, 20135:53 PM
if you like dark books have you read “Two and Twenty Dark Tales: Dark Retellings of Mother Goose Rhymes”? It’s really good.
Also. “A Slice of Cherry” by Dia Reeves. That one kept me up all night. It kind of morphs into insanity if you think about it too much.
JuneBug53December 15th, 20131:06 AM
I definitely second Jane Eyre and Foer and I’m a little bit obsessed with The Book Thief as well :) I’d also highly recommend The Secret History by Donna Tartt; though be warned, it can get quite dark. Picture of Dorian Gray is also wonderful and To Kill A Mockingbird is one of my absolute favorites.
As far as films go I’d recommend anything Alfred Hitchcock or Wes Anderson, the Before Sunrise series, Dead Poets Society, and Bright Star.
I’m sure I could go on forever with both of these lists but these are the first things that come to mind. Hope you have a wonderful winter break!
Flossy MaeDecember 16th, 20133:12 PM
Ahh The Book Thief! Literally one of the saddest books I’ve ever read, it made me cry for days….not sure whether I want to watch the film though, I’m anxious it won’t be as good!
Other amazing books (just because I’m a total readaholic):
The Virgin Suicides
The Picture Of Dorian Gray
One Day
Norwegian Wood
A Gathering Light
And films!:
Submarine
Youth In Revolt
The Kings Of Summer

And i always, always cry…just LOVE this movie SO MUCH!!! Your illustrations are just perfect; i saved them all on my Computer (have to Show them to my sister). Thank you!!!
littlediamondsDecember 12th, 201311:15 PM
Oh, i LOVE this movie! It’s super cheesy, but in a good way. It’s one of my favorite christmas movies for sure and I try to watch it every year. It’s kind of a tradition at this point, along with rereading Bridget Jones (even tho i really don’t know why, since tbh nowadays i kind of hate the book, but it’s SO bad it’s actually good???) and some other stuff. Anyway, really liked this! So cute.
rhymeswithorangeDecember 12th, 201311:29 PM
Great! I love how you captured Alan Rickman’s nose in profile perfectly :)
madame_addieDecember 12th, 201311:55 PM
yay! best christmas film ever <3
kelseyDecember 13th, 20131:11 AM
No joke, I saw this for the first time like yesterday and it BLEW MY MIND.
Why don’t we get to have those sparkly triangle shirts like the girl who sang wore? I would wear that shirt EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE EVER. Seriously, I would.
trasselDecember 13th, 20131:38 AM
I didn’t see this movie until this year, actually. I thought it was a bit wierd but also cute.
trasselDecember 13th, 20131:40 AM
It just seemed like it wanted so bad to be a nineties romcom but the nineties was already over so it just put in all the elements X100.

Love this.
I picked ten pictures and made it a tumblr photo entry which you can see/reblog here:
Please keep doing this for more good films. It’s been a long time since I saw Love Actually but this really made me remember all the great scenes and moments.
paige.xoDecember 13th, 20136:07 AM
love actually is a christmas tradition in my family. im so happy that rookie acknowledges THE greatest Christmas movie.
soretudaaaDecember 13th, 20136:15 AM
This is MY movie <3 <3 <3 I love it so much words cannot explain. It's not even my favorite Christmas movie, or my favorite romantic comedy, IT IS MY FAVORITE MOVIE AS A WHOLE. I've watched it like 3 times this week. My favorite thing about it is that y favorite subplots keep changing all the time: someday it's the Sarah and the hot designer one, sometimes it's the Bill Nighy one, the prime minister one… it probably all depends on how I'm feeling at the moment.
MabelEnchantedDecember 13th, 20136:28 AM
You can’t forget having ‘God Only Knows’ play us out.
Ugh I love this film so much!!
cloudintheskyDecember 13th, 20137:20 AM

I've watched 'Love Actually' so many times since I was a child, it's such a great movie!

This captures the essence of love actually perfectly! I was planning on watching it tonight anyway and this has highly enforced it as a priority!
honorarygilmoregalDecember 13th, 201311:02 AM
This is one of those movies that I’ve heard a lot about, but just never got around to seeing. But now I want to check it out :)
sloththefifthDecember 13th, 201312:53 PM
Fav movie of all times. The amount of times I quote “there was more than one lobster at the birth of Jesus?” “..duh.” is frankly ridiculous.
These drawings were beautiful and got me even more excited to watch this movie this year :)
enthusiastictruckdriverDecember 13th, 20132:45 PM
This is amazing and it makes me want to watch Love Actually ten times in a row and cry and laugh along. I’ve watched it every year in December ever since I was little and I always feel the same amount of emotions but I relate to/notice different bits of it every time I watch it, like the winter after I got into Joni Mitchell, the “Both Sides Now” scene left me bawling, and also the first time I got the “alone again… naturally” joke and I was like OHHHHH! It’s so nice to have a movie that you watch every year, and you know some things will never change (like my love for Colin Firth) but also lots of things will change that will make you notice new things and interpret the movie differently.
December 13th, 20133:56 PM
This is the best thing I’ve ever seen on the internet. Ever :)

ghoststakepolaroidsDecember 13th, 20136:54 PM
I love love loveee this film! just looking at all your illustrations brings feel tears to my eyes and i just have to watch it again haha
TinaBallerinaDecember 14th, 201311:36 AM
Ahh, the greatest romantic film ever!! I have to see it every christmas. My favorite moment (well, apart from EVERYTHING, especially the dancing prime minister) is when awkward Colin Firth delivers his speech in portuguese to Aurelia. Makes me so happy <3
Varvara IstominaDecember 14th, 201311:59 AM
“Love Actually” is my favorite christmas movie EVER! Thank you so much for this! Illustrations are adorable!

Creds to my english teacher for making me memorize that whole sonnet. But actually, this is great.

This movie is amazing and not 100% Christmasy so you can watch it all year round. And I do.
Slightly relevant anecdote:
One time I was having dinner in a restaurant and Bill Nighy was sitting at the table next to me.
The sad thing was that I didn’t realise it was Bill Nighy until after he left. Then when I realised it was him I freaked out.
fangirl10092December 18th, 20132:32 PM
