You know how there’s always that one September day when summer temporarily comes back on full blast and sweater weather is all the sudden just this faint mirage on the brain-baking-hot horizon? It was exactly that kind of afternoon when Frankie Rose and her bandmate Drew Citron agreed to climb on a shadeless rooftop in New York with us to play “Into Blue,” a song from Frankie’s new album, Herein Wild (out this Tuesday on Fat Possum Records). If we hadn’t just told you that our faces were all melting off, you probably wouldn’t have even noticed in this video because Frankie and Drew were the toughest of pros and sounded so lovely. Feel the same admiration we did while you watch and listen right here:
HEY, ROOKIES! Next month’s theme is LOST AND FOUND. We’re looking for writing, illustration, photography, video, collage, etc., on things we have lost and times we’ve been found; on being independent vs. asking for help; on solitude, pros and cons; shyness and the conquering of same; misanthropy and empathy and love and how they can coexist. On everything that makes us feel less alone in this world. Here is where to send your stuff. Thank you! ♥♥♥
Rookie is a website for teenage girls. With monthly-themed content, we update three times every weekday, and once a day on weekends. Click here to find out where to send stuff you'd like us to see. Learn about the people who write this thing here.
