Amanda de Cadenet Is Your Virtual Big Sister

Lucky you!

Amanda de Cadenet is a photographer, an actor, and the creator and host of The Conversation With Amanda de Cadenet, a TV series (on Lifetime and online) in which she talks to smart and talented women like Issa Rae, Gabourey Sidibe, Brody Dalle, and Sarah Silverman about their work and the rest of their lives. Amanda has a way of making everyone feel comfortable enough to open up about stuff like body image and heartbreak, probably because she’s always honest about her own life—she spent her teen years running wild, dating rock stars, dancing on tables, and generally being publicly awesome. Today she’s like the cool big sister everyone wishes they had, and guess what? Now you do! Here she is answering some of your questions on personal style, playing hard to get, and whether you should change your life plans for a boy.

I love what you said for number two. If you truly love someone, and they are meant for you, it’ll work out somehow. I mean, if you go to a far away college, and your boyfriend/girlfriend instantly picks someone else…are they really the kinda person you want to be with? Someone who can’t even try to make it work?

Sooo…. I just have to say that I love how her accent is sometimes british-sounding but sometimes american-sounding… it’s basically perfect, and so is her advice!!

Ugh, Amanda is just so adorable and perfect. And at the risk of sounding cheesy, watching The Conversation is always so empowering and encouraging. I wish its newer episodes were longer!

As a 22 year old, I am still battling with some of these issues myself. I just wanted to say your advice was extremely helpful, refreshing and genuine to hear.

    Thank you.

All of the best people are involved with Rookie. Which I love. It’s like an online community of everyone cool that exists. Also I spend way *way* too much time on here in a manner that caused a popped blood vessel in my eye, which made me look like a junkie.

    I am okay with this.
