It’s so nice to know that there are people out there just as weird as oneself. Thank you Rookie.
Lol this is a rad comic but how is it “haunting and meaningful”…?
I think anyone kind find meaning in anything! I just wanted to share with the author how lovely it was and how it struck a cord with me! :-)
So lovely, I adore it!
This is so sad. Poor lil Soupboy.
But ooooh I loved the glitter so much!
I don’t understand the visual narrative; what happened?
not sure if i get it, but i like it a lot!
Same here, my reaction was, “Lol, wut?”
I noticed the girl’s skin is green, is she like a vegetarian zombie?
the pink and yellow watercolors remind me of marnie stern’s 2010 album cover!
I might be off, but I think the soup is poison or something and the girl had some before the boy got home. Boy comes home, eats the “soup, and lies down to die with the girl.
It looks like she’s pouring him love potion soup (“no escape”, and the little red swirls around him when she goes “good”) or I don’t know? Maybe you can project your own “chokehold of love” fears on it! Love it, really cute and creepy!!
I guess there is not much more to “get” out of it that what it’s said, it’s up to you to give it a meaning. I really really liked this!
…okay…now I want soup.
Adorable! It reminds me of a less creepy version of Saladfingers, which for me at least is very good…
My interpretation: Soupboy is ill. Girl cares for him by offering him soup and telling him to rest. She lays by his side.
But I prefer the theory about vegetarian zombie-Girl poisoning Soupboy.
I read it as: Soupboy is ill. Girl tries to ease his pain by offering him soup and telling him to rest. She lays by his side. Love, love, caring.
Oh wait – I just read the caption underneath the title. So it might indeed be about a vegetarian zombie-Girl imprisoning and poisoning Soupboy :-)
The zombie theory is interesting–maybe it’s just my Star Trek obsession spilling over into other parts of my brain, but I assumed that the girl was an alien and that the boy was a pet from another planet which just happened to be Earth…
