After five years (and six homes) in Guadalajara, Mexico, I’m moving to Mexico City, where my best friend, Zaid, moved a month ago. There I can be with my best friend and our dogs and everything will be new. I think it’ll be great.
This will be my new house.
I took pictures of the whole moving process, because I like empty places, and I want to remember all the places I’ve lived. I think part of growing up is learning (or trying) to let go of places and things.
While I was packing I found so many peculiar things: dried glitter, masks, fake reindeer antlers, broken shoes, letters from ex-lovers… But with the help of my friends I was about to let it all go and move on.
I’ve spent the past month packing and then unpacking and then trying to understand how my new city works. People move so fast here.
I’m really happy here so far. I have good friends here, and they’re making things easy for me.
I’ll be all right.
After all, change is good.

i love this!!!!! the colours are so pretty.
too beautiful
Moving out, going to live somewhere else and only taking with you what you need is like a dream for me. People I know had the chance to do this, for example when they started studying in a different city. They started all over.
I alway wanted to do that, too, but I’m actually stuck in a huge flat with all the things my parents left now and I’m doing the opposite: Getting rid of things. I’m not starting over, but I’m developing.
Thank you Maria for sharing!

these pictures are gorgeous. I’d love to travel when I’m older, and love the idea of photographing the moving process…I love keeping my memories in the form of photographs.
Perfect post, as always <3
These are so beautiful. I know people always say this, but SERIOUSLY this is the best photo set ever xx
Wow, these are all so beautiful! Whodathunk such an ordinary process that so many people do a certain times in their lives could be captured so beautifully.
I’ve always dreamed of moving to Mexico but I don’t have any family or friends there, which kind of freaks me out…
But anyways, I loved the whole atmosphere of this photo collection :)
this is absolutely beautiful. the balcony in picture 12 and all the plants and the clean walls and the beautiful floors were amazing and really made me nostalgic for the apartment we used to live in when i was a kid. good luck in your new home!
This is my favorite photo set so far. I’ve never moved before but I look forward to when I do.
This was beautiful, and I really loved the pictures. You did a great job with your message and idea!

I really loved how this expressed an almost positive side of moving. The whole atmosphere of these photos feels like new beginnings mixed with nostalgia and it was all just really beautiful. <3

Goodluck with this moving. You, your friend and yours dogs look lovely.
The 10th is so beautiful.
I love this! I’m going to be moving out in 3 months and i’m going away to university in a new city and i’m terrified, but so so excited to be finally living on my own without my parents, just me. I know this is what I want to do, but I feel like i’m not completely capable of living on my own. I mean, I know how to cook and do laundry, but the comfort of always having my parents there in case I screw up is going to be gone.
I am literally in the middle of the hellscape of moving right now. Seeing this photodiary reminded me of the beauty of change and that I’m going to get through it. Thank you again Rookie, for providing me with exactly what I need when I need it :)
my parents are from mexico. Everytime i go visit, i always ask them if they can take me to mexico city but they always say no. I’m kind of sort of jealous. Beautiful photos!
This made me sob. I’m in that phase where I want to explore and not be trapped up at home. I want to see everything and I can’t do that here. Lovely photos.
wow, so beautiful
This really touches me. I just graduated from college and moved from the town I not only called home for the last four years, but also learned about who I am. Moving is sad, good, stressful, cleansing, and necessary. Don’t forget the places you call or called home, your heart can be in many different places at once!
stunning, makes me want to go someplace and start over
This is great. I’m moving to Mexico, city to study my career in a few days. This pictures made me feel so identified and hopeful for change and all sort of new things! I love it.
Whoa! Your dude friends have the best style!!! I LOVE their jackets and stripes and poka dots and LOVE!!!!!!
