Friday Playlist: Hanging Out With Enid Coleslaw

Music that our beloved malcontent would lurve.

Yesterday, I saw Enid Coleslaw stalking a couple in the grocery store and scribbling in her notebook. Apparently she’s stuck in town for the summer, because she has to take an art class for fuck-ups, but after that she’s free. I wonder what she’ll do after high school? Probably just torture Josh until he dies. I don’t know why, but I have this feeling that one day she’ll sort of just…disappear.

I LOVED GHOST WORLD. I really need to get around to watching the film, though. Great playlist! Enid (wherever she may be) would appreciate this.

And in an amazing turn of events, Ghost World actually just started playing on Sundance and I’m now going to spend the remainder of my night watching it :)

I’m very sorry if you are not able to get this playlist to work. We are having trouble with the site that hosts it, and will try and fix as soon as possible!

I watched Ghost World a couple of weeks ago & it was amazing! This playlist is like the musical version of it. Awesome! I love that you’ve used Mohd. Rafi’s Jaan Pehchaan Ho which brings back a lot of memories. R.I.P. Rafi Saab.

Seeing as GW and Paris, Texas are top shelf in my film preference library, let’s make a “Hanging Out With Travis” playlist for next month. I’m expecting a lot of Wim Wenders.

    • la fee clochette July 14th, 2012 12:23 PM

YES to a Paris, TX and/or Wim Wenders playlist! then Jim Jarmusch..

      • caro nation July 15th, 2012 2:43 PM

HELL YEAH, fellow pretentious cinephile, YEAH.

  • boredeverything July 14th, 2012 11:35 AM

enid will totally end up with josh… dah.

    p.s.
bikini kill is fiercely appropriate, but i fear there is a desperate lack of indian musicals, and blues sides.

  • nickz July 14th, 2012 2:10 PM

Enid would definitely agree with this playlist.I like how you included that Indian song she was listening to at the beginning of the film;)

    YO LA TENGO

  • Lascelles July 15th, 2012 4:07 PM

    Hazel,

Why Buzzcocks’ Fallin in Love over What Do I Get, which was in the film? What Do I’s lyrics seems to fit better.

I just want a lover like any other
    What do I get
I only want a friend who will stay to the end
    What do I get

Oh and I always imagine she grows up to the Sophie Crumb :D It’s her drawings. So the bus goes to Paris.
