Friday Playlist: Sing This All Together

Spring is coming! Here, have some psychedelic tunes.

Here are 21 tracks from the global psych underground, suitable for stomping the gear shops of Carnaby Street, haunting the incense-scented streets of Istanbul, and shimmying on the Sunset Strip. Open your head, let the pictures come. This is a good weekend for some “soul-manifesting,” don’t you think?

Are you brazilian? I am! So happy to see a Rookie’s reader from Brazil! And a Mutantes fan!!! Saudades da formação original :)

  • TessAnnesley March 16th, 2012 11:15 PM

This is AWESOME, but I was expecting some Gang Gang Dance/Stevie Nicks type stuff! What is more explorer-y than glitter-and–acid electro and everyone’s favourite pop witch?

  • nini March 16th, 2012 11:26 PM

  • Giulia Lain March 16th, 2012 11:30 PM

I didn’t hear it yet, but I like almost all the songs that is in the playlist. And… wow! Os Mutantes, a brazilian band, and I’m from Brazil, so I’m really happy. Here we’re going to autumn, and finally getting out of this really really hot summer.
    Really nice!

Ô_ô wow… it’s really weird! But I’m happy to find someone from Brazil who has the same interests.
We should be friends, I think so.

Ok, not a de facto, bona fide, valid, authentic, legitimate, kosher WHATEVER 1960′s counterculture hallucinogenic ooh-swirly-colors Timothy Leary band, but THE FROGS DID SOME PRETTY WEIRD SHIT.

“Outta the mist how could I miss you with your drugs?
Outta the mist how could I miss you with your druggy ways?
    (your drugs)
    Outta the mist
    (I missed you)
    Outta the mist
Outta the mist I kissed your lovely drug-filled lips.”

    • Leeann March 28th, 2012 1:27 PM

Oh man, you’re awesome, I hadn’t thought about them crazy Flemion Brothers in YEARS!! I love that one song where they basically just make fun of Nirvana the whole time. Maybe I’ll make a future playlist about 90s semi-psych weirdos, like them, Mercury Rev, early Flaming Lips, etc.

  • poison ivy May 28th, 2012 4:19 PM
