Whoa this seems like an indirect to me, it’s 5 a.m. where I live and I should have already had those 5 hours of sleep.

  • DEATH101 January 27th, 2012 11:22 PM

    ASLEEP – THE SMITHS !!!!!!!!!!!!???!!!

    • Janelle January 28th, 2012 11:15 AM

      Exactly! Why???

    • annagracie January 28th, 2012 5:30 PM

    • AthenaP92 January 28th, 2012 5:39 PM

    • anhiebananhie January 29th, 2012 7:48 PM

I know! That was the song that popped into my head when I read the title of this post.

    • May 3rd, 2012 9:49 PM

      WHERE IS IT!

  • Rain January 27th, 2012 11:28 PM

The fact that Mazzy Star is included in this playlist makes me feel like less of a weirdo for liking them.

  • Cuntext January 27th, 2012 11:48 PM

And when I was a teenager:

    1. Sing Me to Sleep – The Smiths
    2. Cooling – Tori Amos (actually a LOT of Tori Amos)

    /melancholy teenage lullaby anthems

  • AprilC January 27th, 2012 11:51 PM

    Aw ):
Why this time it isn’t the cute image of a notebook’s page with the name of the songs on it?

Anyway, I’ll listen the amazing songs that you are bringing us this time(:

    • Anaheed January 28th, 2012 5:33 PM

It’s there now! Just took us an extra day this time.

  • Chimdi January 28th, 2012 12:01 AM

    how could
    you not include
    Asleep by
    The Smiths?
(Sorry, I feel peculiar/confused because I’m watching The Future)

  • KatExMachina January 28th, 2012 12:07 AM

    No “Asleep” by The Smiths?!

lovelovelovelove Oh just lemme listen to these the rest of my life

  • llamagesicht January 28th, 2012 12:47 AM

Another good Broken Social Scene song for this list would have been “I Slept With Bonhomme At The CBC.” It’s a ridiculous title but a wonderful, relaxing instrumental piece.

  • ivoire January 28th, 2012 1:20 AM

    chad vangaalen ♫

  • Three Plays by Margot Tenenbaum January 28th, 2012 1:35 AM

The playlist’s namesake, “Asleep” by The Smiths deserves a shout out, right?

  • TessAnnesley January 28th, 2012 1:36 AM

  • Narnie January 28th, 2012 2:06 AM

    • Emily D January 28th, 2012 11:45 PM

not that I was scrolling down the page to type just that…

  • delirium January 28th, 2012 2:46 AM

This is a lovely list. I used to listen to Liquid Diamonds by Tori Amos on a loop as I was falling asleep. It was so soothing, the way everything echoes and reverberates in that song, it’s like being underwater.

  • Steph January 28th, 2012 3:23 AM

At first I was super excited because I thought you included Sleep(the band) but then I saw it was just the name of the song :(

  • kittenmix January 28th, 2012 3:46 AM

    Fear Satan – Mogwai
It actually kind of scares me into falling asleep. Well, falling asleep/passing out in terror (it’s a scary sounding song, ok!!)

  • Mariam January 28th, 2012 4:16 AM

i would just add asleep by the smiths, I thought that the title of this article was from that song actually))

  • Mariam January 28th, 2012 4:20 AM

any song by sparklehorse from their album vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot is a good sleepiing song for me or like, galaxie 500 songs and pink floyd is the best

  • Raindrops January 28th, 2012 5:37 AM

I love that Mazzy Star’s Fade into you is on here. It’s such a beautiful song!

  • Eleanor January 28th, 2012 7:24 AM

ah, those are my favourite twin sister, azure ray and chemical brothers songs!! such good choices.

  • nina19 January 28th, 2012 7:44 AM

Fade into you! Mazzy Star!!! This is just what I needed :)

  • mangachic January 28th, 2012 4:04 PM

  • jadeione January 28th, 2012 6:04 PM

You should have had “Your Woman” by White Town. That is always at the top of my nighty-night playlist.

  • thebrighterside January 28th, 2012 7:30 PM

    i love the shins especially #10 :)

  • loonylizzy January 28th, 2012 9:25 PM

“Sleep” by Imogen Heap. sooo soothing, it puts me right to sleep :)

  • mwong1025 January 28th, 2012 10:06 PM

I would add “Asleep” by The Smiths because it’s one of the saddest songs I ever heard.

And it’s in The Perks of Being A Wallflower.

  • sineadmarguerite January 29th, 2012 11:04 AM

In love with this playlist, but must admit I also clicked the title assuming that The Smith’s Asleep would be the first track, as it is the ultimate ‘Sing me to sleep’ song! Keep up the lovely playlists :-)

  • caro nation January 29th, 2012 1:14 PM

    This is so great.

I would like to add St. Vincent’s “Marrow,” Unknown Mortal Ochestra’s “I Want To Be Left To My Own Devices,” The Gun Club’s “Mother of Earth,” and The Kill’s “Baby Says” to this playlist.

    • caro nation January 29th, 2012 1:20 PM

Oh, and Bjork’s “Hunter (Strings version).”

Maybe you should have reader playlists every month, sort of like Friend Crush.

      • caro nation January 29th, 2012 1:26 PM

        OK ONE MORE

Deerhoof’s “This Is God Speaking” is so eerie it’ll keep you from sleeping at all.

  • EveyMarrie January 29th, 2012 8:18 PM

I usually just listen to Beach House and that does the trick haha

  • VelvetRedDragon January 29th, 2012 8:48 PM

Sleep by My Chemical Romance should really be on here(:

  • sunshine January 30th, 2012 3:28 AM

just wondering why asleep by the smiths isn’t in this. other than that – this playlist is perfection!

  • poppunkgurrrlx January 30th, 2012 3:48 AM

  • isabellehungryghost January 30th, 2012 5:35 AM

  • viciouscirce January 30th, 2012 8:43 AM

  • starsinyourheart January 30th, 2012 12:23 PM

Today has been ok – Emiliana Torrini … has sung me to sleep so many times! :) I love this playlist! x

  • brynntheredonethat January 30th, 2012 4:00 PM

I’m surprised Asleep by The Smiths isn’t on here. The lyrics are even in the title! :)

  • meatlessrawsugar January 30th, 2012 4:27 PM

I love that Chad Vangaalen and Twin Sister are on here, I’ll be sure to return to this playlist on a sleepless, insomnia-rife night!

  • iamthegeek January 30th, 2012 8:15 PM

If You Can’t Sleep by She & Him would be a great addition to this playlist. FYI. :]

    LULLATONE. my favourite.
